Punk Rock & Graffiti Book Signing & a Giveaway!
Just in from my book signing with Stephanie Kuehnert (I WANNA BE YOUR JOEY RAMONE) at Borders in Monterey, CA. (Not Minnesota!)
There was a mix up and our book signing materials were sent to the wrong store in another state, but Borders Express pulled through and had signs made and did their best to promote the event. They gave us flowers, pens, and chilled water. They were all super nice and always checking on us. The manager admired how outgoing we were with the customers. I thought we did a pretty good job too!
I was thrilled to have a teen reader fan come especially to get her copy of GRAFFITI GIRL signed with her mom. (Hello, Rei Monique!) How cool is that??
Even though Steph had been on the road all day, she was upbeat and ready to sign books. She had her hair died a pretty pink, and wore a cute blouse with a skull pattern. Even though I hadn't met Steph before I gave her a big hug. We'd been chatting on-line for a while now, and guess what? Her astrology sign is Cancer, and guess what Tina's is? Cancer too. So I knew we'd get along great--haha!
We had a great conversation with a group of military students, and they kept us entertained for a good half hour and purchased our books too! Here is Randal, he's a cutie and so outgoing. See, boys like our books too! Our prize giveaway went to his friend Nathalie by random draw. yay!
Here we are at the end. The night was calm and the manager apologized but I expected that for midweek and we still sold books! Nonetheless, it was a fun and memorable experience with another great MTV Books author! Thank you, Steph!
Hey, I think I'm finally getting a hang of this book signing deal. Just a little bit more, anyway. ;)
Now for the on-line giveaway! Leave a comment to win an autographed copy of I WANNA BE YOUR JOEY RAMONE. Keep in mind RAMONE is for mature teen or adult readers (15 years and up). Winner will be announced Sunday evening. Thanks!

Awww, what great photos! And how awesome was it to snap a candid shot of the guy? He can use that to show off his sensitive/intellectual side to the laydeez for years to come. ^_-
Glad it went well! Particularly after your book signing materials were sent elsewhere!!!! (Why does something always go wrong at a booksigning???)

Thanks, Tina, it was fun! Wish you had been there too!

Cara, I just don't know why! haha!
It would be so much fun to be an author and do book signings. Even if not a whole lot of people show up I'm sure it's fun.
It looks like you two had a great time! I'm glad =)
Please enter me to win the copy of IWBYJR!

I was at a Barnes and Noble during the week once and they had an author in the store signing copies of his book. There was no one in the store to begin with and no one was going by his table. I felt so bad that I bought his book so he would have sold one. Sounds like you had fun though. I can't wait to read both books
Great photos! I'm glad you had such a great time. I would have loved to pop in if I lived closer.
I would love to win a signed copy!

Thanks, Breanna! Yeah, being an author definitely has it's ups and downs like any job but if you love telling stories, then its a dream job!

freewriter, that was very kind of you! Yes, signings are not always tons of people wanting to buy your book unless your like Steph Meyer. haha! So it's always nice to do a co-author signing!
Thanks, Wendy! I am excited to meet you at conference!

Sounds like you all had a blast!
The materials got sent to Minnesota! I was in the store about a week ago and was about to mention that their information was wrong on their computers about the signing when severe weather started and we ran for home. Oh man that's a bummer though. I still wished that you had come that would have been so fun. I'm glad you posted about it though :)
Thanks Everyone for entering! Winner coming soon...
