I'm Having Too Much Fun!

Okay...six days until my book comes out, and I’m having more fun than a grown-up should be allowed. So why not share?

First off, the display is up in the window of the bookstore where I’m holding my March 17 book signing. Take a peak:

Isn’t that dress in the window to die for? (And the black bags beside it aren't trash. They're my shopping bags...and I couldn't get our crop function to work...)

Next, the day my books arrived, my cat (named Rascal after the guy who dumps Nicolette before the prom), decided to investigate.

We captioned this, “Finally, I can find out what she wrote about me”.

Finally, here’s a super-fun quiz called “What is Your Perfect Prom Dress?” you can take from Random House Teens:

Please report back to us what that perfect prom dress for you would be!

You know I love that Rascal pic, it's too cute! I really love the window display. It's so going to draw visitors!

And I took the quiz the other day and I came up traditional--which was a big surprise to me!

Woo-hoo, almost release day!!

Thanks, Kelly! The quiz said I was a Fashionista, which conficts with my closet, but maybe I'm a "closet fashionista"?

Congrats! The store window looks adorable. I couldn't access the quiz for some reason, but I'm having a pink and black "punk rock" themed wedding, if that's any indication of what kind of prom dress I'd wear! :)
Looking forward to your book.

Alex--you're right, the link doesn't work! Well, here it is again:

And a black and pink wedding sounds so COOL. Mine was pink and gray, and while not traditional, I can't say "punk" applied. :) When's the big day?

Okay, link is fixed! :)

Kelly, have I told you recently how great you are???

Fashionista

You already know what your perfect dress is. You have the page torn out of the magazine. It might be out of your budget, so take the picture to a dressmaker already! They can work miracles.

I agree with Tina, that answer definitely conflicts with my closet! lol But I *do* have the perfect dress in my head...

Oh, good, Erin, and what a wonderful lead in to tell you to keep that perfect dress in your head and make sure to drop by here again next Wednesday...

That window display is adorable. How exciting for you! I wonder at what point authors take that as "the norm," you know? Like, does J.K. Rowling still get a thrill when she sees a Barnes & Noble all dressed up for Harry Potter? Or is she just used to it?

I was given "Vintage" for a prom dress which works pretty well for me. Recapturing old treasures always sounds like the way to go!

Have I told you how excited I am for you? I really wish we didn't live so far apart, but a 2000 mile roadtrip with two toddlers just ain't happening, sorry! :) The window display looks exquisite and I just know you'll be mobbed with tons of teen girls! Tell Rascal just looking at his pic made me sneeze (deathly allergic to kittys) And I told you the other day but I got a traditional, spaghetti-strap golden gown.
xo,
Steph

Lisa, I can't imagine a window display not knocking the author's socks off, kind of like your own baby does. But who knows? I hope I can answer this in ten years. :)

And Steph, I sure wish you could be there, too. And believe me, I'll have enough nervous energy to chase after toddlers--but maybe I should use it for signing...

Since you *insist*--
To begin, let me say that I heart Audrey Hepburn....
Here's my dream dress! (And hairstyle, and pose..)
:) Oh and I will be sure to stop by again next week!

I think that's true, Tina. I hope that's the way it is. If it's not, then I'm getting myself into the wrong profession. haha

Erin, you're fabulous! I love that dress and that pose. And you'd have no way of knowing this, but the heroine in PROM DRESS thinks her dress looks like something Audrey Hepburn would have worn in ROMAN HOLIDAY...

Lisa, I admit I peeked at your profile and blog, and I see all the passion for YA writing and drive in you that Kelly and I have. You're definitely in the right profession, and I hope you'll keep hanging out with us so we can watch you on your journey to publication!

How CUTE. Fantastic display. Just what the doctor (book!) ordered!

Love the display window. Hope I'll have something cool like that when my YA series gets picked up. I took the quiz and here are the results:

Traditional

Your perfect dress is a spaghetti-strapped, soft golden gown. When you twirl, the dress flows right along with you and the color sets off your eyes!

Seeing as how I never went to prom, this dress sounds quite pretty. A soft golden color would probably look good with my complexion.

Thanks, Little Willow and Gemini! And I can't remember if we've talked about this, but I didn't go to my prom, either, Gemini, which for years I regretted, and now I'm thinking was one good strategic career move. LOL. And that dress DOES sound fabulous.

I really adore this dress as well, the style is right up my alley:

Thanks Tina! I'm looking forward to it! ;)

Oooh, yeah, Erin. I'm no fashionista (despite what my quiz says) but what appeals to me here is the contrast of the classic lines and the red hot! Woo-hoo!

Thanks!
