Better Late Than Never!

I've had a copy of The Hunger Games around my house for a year or so. I'm not a big paranormal reader, so it just kept getting overlooked in my stack. Yesterday, at the urging of some friends, I finally decided to "see what the buzz" was all about.

And so now, just three chapters in, I am hooked. I GET IT! (And probably will have to "get" the sequels, too.)

This reminded me of when I finally, finally saw The Terminator...and loved it and then suddenly had watch numbers two and three.

How about you? Is there a mega-popular book or movie to which you've been "late to the party," and ended up loving?

I was late to the party to watch Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars, AFTER the series were over! haha. But yes, I agree, better late than never!

We were late to both Harry Potter and Twilight. But that was kind of purposeful, actually. When things get hyped up that much, we find it IMPOSSIBLE to enjoy them... We just lucked out and read Hunger Games before it go so popular. Keep reading! Book 2 is our fave.

Kelly, I still need to watch Veronica Mars! And We Heart YA, thanks...I can already tell I'm going to have to read this whole Hunger Games series! :)

I haven't read HUNGER GAMES yet, so I'm as late as you are with this one.

Everyone I've reccommended the Hunger Games series to is at first skeptical (given my paranormal/post-apocolyptic leanings) but eventually agrees it's a great series.

Read the first 2 in 2 days, but didn't realize the 3rd wasn't due out for months. I'm interested to see your opinion on Mockingjay. It's a little different than the other 2.

I was late to the Percy Jackson series, but otherwise my local librarians make sure I stay on top of new releases. :)

Glad you're liking Hunger Games so far! Be careful - if you're anything like me, you literally won't be able to put it down!

I've been late to the party for everything: Harry Potter, Twilight, Hunger Games, and more TV shows than I can count. The only thing I haven't been late to the party for lately is Glee. I watched from the very first episode on, and I'm glad I did!

Sometimes being late to the party is good because it means you don't have to wait long or at all for the sequels. =)

Yes, Janie, I definitely recommend The Hunger Games. Since I posted this morning, I managed to sneak in about 5 more chapters and it's not only intriguing, but I love the voice, too!
