Mall of America!

As I said last week, I was taking a short vacation to Minnesota. And among the good times with friends, family (and yes, young adult books), I got to spend some time at the world’s largest shopping mall, Mall of America.

With over 400 stores and a 7 acre indoor park, millions of people from all over the world visit each year. And I could sure see why! In the couple of hours I spent there, I made it into maybe a dozen stores and gawked at as many amusement park rides, and the overall atmosphere is really fun and pleasant.

Best of all, I ended up buying my dress for the Rita® Award ceremony! It happened so unexpectedly. I was telling my cousin that while last year, I wanted my look to say “romantic,” that this year, I had a whole different style in mind. And I pointed to a display of dresses as an example of what I meant. And the next thing I knew, I was trying one on--and then going for the wallet. How easy was that? (Specifics of the dress not to be revealed yet!)

And amusing to me is the Minnesota connection: The ABC’s of Kissing Boys takes place in Minnesota, and now I’ve purchased the dress there, too! Yes, I am silly and sentimental about things like that!

Has anyone else been to or heard about the Mall of America?

Did you hear about the Mall Cops: Mall of America show, it's pretty darn funny!

You're the second person who has mentioned that show to me in two days. GOTTA check it out! =)

It wouldn't be nearly as funny if I haven't been to the MOA tons of times. But it's worth a giggle!

Oh yeah! My grandfather and some other family members live up in St. Paul –or was it Minneapolis?– but I haven't been up there in years. Will probably be going up there soon.

Whenever I or someone else mentions the Mall of America, my father always likes to tell the story of the time I threw a tantrum when we were leaving the mall and I wanted to go back to that Camp Snoopy amusement park. BWHAHA. :D I still remember going to the ground and pounding my fists and shouting, "I want to ride it one more timeeeeeee!"

Nostalgia. I tell you!

LOL, Bianca! Thanks for sharing...and FYI, I don't think it's called Camp Snoopy anymore. There's some serious rides there that put my heart in my stomach just watching! So I really think you gotta go back... ;)

I've definitely heard about it, but have never been. Congrats on getting your dress. I wish I could be there to see you in it.

I was just there on Saturday. Had to go to the American Girl doll store for my daughter and niece. We also road a few rides - It is Nickelodeon Universe now. We also love the Lego store because we can fill a bucket with random pieces - you get some great pieces that way!

As for Mall Cops. I laugh too. They take their job soooo seriously. I mean I know they should but sometimes it's a bit too much :)

Went there two years ago on a family road trip. My Mom and I spent the entire time in approximately three stores, lol.

I've never been and the idea of it makes me a little nervous. I find the regular mall down the street to be a little overwhelming with all the shops and people and choices, the Mall of America might be a little much for me!
