YALSA Giveaway!

I got some great news recently, the fact that The ABC’s of Kissing Boys is a nominee by the American Library Association (ALA) for the 2009 Best Book for Young Adults!

According to the site, the Best Books for Young Adults committee "selects and annotates a list of significant adult and young adult books, as well as chooses a list of top ten titles from the full list. It is a general list of fiction and nonfiction titles selected for their proven or potential appeal to the personal reading tastes of the young adult.”

I am ever so grateful for this recognition!

And must share that they gave the book a cute and clever summary/review:

“Learning to kiss from her father's archenemy's son (a freshman) can lead to consequences Parker never imagined. A funny, poignant, and sweet Romeo and Juliet.”

But don’t take my word for it. Run over there to the ALA Best Book YA Nominated Titles yourself.

And then, to enter this weekend's contest, come back here and leave us a comment. Tell us about one of the other books--that either you have read (and enjoyed) or want to read. On Sunday evening, June 14, at 7:00 PM PST, this contest will close and a winner promptly named.

The prize? Well, what else but a signed copy of The ABC’s of Kissing Boys?

I read my copy on Kindle, so I would love to have a real life version to hold in my hands.

Like I commented in the previous post, I adored this book! Great job Tina, and congrats!

First of all Tina, Congratulations the book is fabulous and deserves the nomination.
Second, I finished Audrey,Wait by Robin Benway at the end of school this year while the kids completed their finals and it is great. She does a good job and incorporating music throughout the story. It is unique and totally charming. There are other on the list too that I like including Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson, After Tupac and D Foster by Jacqueline Woodson, Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and Paper Towns by John Green. So many good books.
Even though I have a copy of your book; I would love an autographed copy.

Congratulations!
I was looking at the list of nominated books, and I was quickly realizing that I hadn't read any of them. Luckily, I spotted two books that I did read towards the end of the list: The Dust of 100 Dogs and Cracked Up To Be.
I enjoyed them both very much, and I recommend them.
They are so many books on the list that I haven't read yet, and I so want to! It's kind of discouraging.

Congrats, Tina on the nomination! I recently finished The Forest Of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan and I have to admit that it gave me nightmares! I can't wait to read your book!

Congratulations! That's so awesome! I can't imagine how excited you are.

I, sadly, have not read any of the books on the list yet! I know, I suck. I really want to read FADE by Lisa McMann. I loved WAKE so I know I'll love FADE too. I also really want to read The Dust of 100 Dogs. I've heard many great things about that book. And of course I want to read the ABC's of Kissing Boys!!! :)

I was looking at the wrong list, so I deleted my previous comment! The link came up with a quotation mark at the end of it on my computer, so I just tried to find it!

I bought Wintergirls the other day and am excited to read it, also The September Sisters, Catching Fire, Along for the Ride, Going too Far, and so on and so forth! There's too many to list them all!

Checking out YALSA's Best Books 09 list has given me more a bunch of titles to add to my reading list. I can't believe how many I haven't read yet (bad librarian!). I did absolutely LOVE "What I saw and how I lied" by Judy Blundell. Subtle, artful writing, poignant plot, complex yet relate-able characters. The total package!

I do have a several books from the list on my must get books list for next year including Suzanne Collins and Sarah Dessen's new books.
