The Baking (and eating) of Holiday Cookies!

Okay, so I’m no Martha Stewart when it comes to baking. BUT I still have the urge for some holiday cookies! Yummers!

So what do I think of when it comes to holiday cookies…?

Is it these…

Or these…

Or…

All good, yes, but when I bake Christmas cookies I have the most fun with Sugar cookies!!

When I was little my aunt would always make sugar cookies with frosting on top in reindeer and in santa shapes. But not only that they were so thin and light that they seemed to melt on your tongue. *sigh*

And with my mom, we'd always make our sugar cookie dough into fun shapes like candy canes and holly wreaths:

So this year with my kiddos I plan on making a big mess and continuing the cookie baking tradition!

How about you? Any favorite holiday cookies for you this holiday season?

I love those candy cane cookies. Each year, I host a cookie decorating party for my kids and their friends. Everyone brings a dozen cookies. I provide enough sugary decorations and frostings to keep the kids on overdrive for a good month and a half. It is huge fun and a huge mess. None of the resulting cookies are as beautiful as the ones you've pictured, but they all taste marvelous.

I'm no Martha Stewart, either, Kelly, but I've been making up batches of frosted sugar cookies this year! Yum!

What darling cookies! I have to confess, I have never made cookies at Christmas. I always go crazy making candy for all the neighbors though. Fudge, caramels, toffee and divinity- YUM! I think I'll give cookies a try this year!!

Aaah, stop tempting me!
My fave holiday cookie would have to be the classic sugar cookie. My family used to have annual decorating parties, which were great fun as a kid.

Your pictures made me hungry! My favorite isn't really a Christmas cookie, but my aunt makes chocolate covered peanut butter balls this time of year that are divine...

Must share that a friend dropped by with a gorgeous platter of cookies last night, and my first thought was that she'd been reading YA FRESH! =)

Shannon, what a fun idea!! No, its not how perfect the cookie turns out, it's the fun making them and eating them!
