I was watching GLEE the other night (yes, I am a Gleek) and thinking back on various TV shows featuring high school and teens I’ve seen over the years. I thought it would be fun to mention some "oldies but goodies" here for those of us who have down-time over the holidays and feel like going back...
Gidget (1960’s)
A one-season wonder featuring life on the beach (and around town) starring Sally Field!
Welcome Back, Kotter (1970’s)
A former student becomes a teacher at the inner city school he'd been so happy to once leave. And check out John Travolta in one of his earliest roles.
Square Pegs (1980’s)
About misfits in high school. I recall the tag line being “One size does NOT fit all.” And notice a very young “Sex and the City” Sarah Jessica Parker.
Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990’s)
Tagline (thank you, Netflix): A Kansas family relocates to Beverly Hills, where their two children adapt to the infamous social drama of West Beverly Hills High.
So now it’s your turn, and I purposely left the door wide open! Tell us some other TV shows that featured teens in high school that you think others might enjoy tuning into it. One winner will be randomly chosen and can pick between a signed copy of Top Ten Uses for an Unworn Prom Dress by Tina Ferraro, and a signed copy of Her and Me and You by Lauren Strasnick!
Giveaway ends--and winner announced--on Monday, December 13th!

How can you forget Saved by the Bell? I loved that show. I still watch it if I catch on.
Does "21 Jump Street" count? I used to run home from dance rehearsals to swoon over Johnny Depp and Richard Grieco.
Hm ... Madison High and Degrassi - two of my all time favourites! Thanks for the contest! :D apereiraorama @ gmail.com
Saved by the Bell and Dawson's Creek were two of my favorites ever :)

My So-Called Life for an oldie and for a newbie would be Life Unexpected. Love that show!
BUFFY! The uber YA on the small screen and paranormal before paranormal was all over bookstore shelves! (BTW, I'm a total Gleek myself.) Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Happy to see that other readers mentioned "Saved by the Bell" (which I hate to admit that I still watch on TBS every once in a while!) and "Dawson's Creek!"
I also loved "Sweet Valley High" when the books were turned into a short-lived TV show. "Boy Meets World" took place in high school at some point, right? Also a classic!
How about My So Called Life and Freaks and Geeks?

Not to copy everyone here, but I have to say Saved by the Bell. :)
I loved watching The Facts of Life. That's when I was first introduced to Molly Ringwald! Too bad she was only in the first season before she became the John Hughes's Teen Queen! A couple of years ago the series was released on DVD so I can love it all over again.
My So Called Life was one of my favorites.
I know! Clare Danes was amazing in that show - and she hasn't let up since.

Great shows, and yes, they all "count." Keep 'em coming!
Buffy, Degrassi, Skins (UK show)...
(There is nothing wrong with being a Gleek. <3 Glee)
Not to seem too old, I like Ozzie and Harriet because of Rick and David!

I loved Saved by the Bell, really a classic and Dawson's Creek too, although at some point I found it quite unreal.

Don't forget Room 222, Los Angeles, Walt Whitman High School. Best half hour of TV every week inn the late 60's and 70's.
I like 7th heaven (at least some of the episodes).

I love Avatar: The Last Airbender (I know, I know, a cartoon). Does it still count? :)

Dawson's Creek and 21 Jump Street, are my favorite :)
Loving all of these shows (all of which "count"), and a special shout-out to B. A. Binns for ROOM 222. Haha, yeah!
Other than 90210 which you mentioned, I also loved "Wonder Years" with Fred Savage; a flashback to the late 50's; early 60's. And we can never forget "Happy Days" = )
Degrassi, Facts Of Life, and Welcome Back, Kotter. (Thank you for reminding me about Kotter -- I used to love that show!) :)
