What's for Breakfast?

Is it just in California, or are breakfast burritos the high school and college rage where you live, too?

Cafeterias in the golden state can barely keep up with the demand. For breakfast burritos are not only delicious eye-openers, but
filled with enough protein and carbs (and calories!) to power
brains through their morning classes.

And in many schools, the caf staff (hey, that's rhymes!) lets you
pick and choose your own ingredients:

--scrambled eggs
--hash browns
--bacon
--sausage
--ham
--steak
--onions
--tomatoes
--green peppers
--cheese

Topped with salsa, hot sauce, sour cream, guacamole, and you are
good to go.

Tell us what's popular in your breakfast burritos or and/or what
fills your breakfast cafeteria trays...

I like breakfast burritos! (And I'm way over in the East!) About 10 years ago, McDonald's offered a breakfast burrito. That was my first exposure to them, and I liked them a lot.

Now I make my own. I like them with scrambeld eggs, cheese, a little mayo, and some bacon. Yummy!

I don't know if they offer them for breakfast at my son's high school. Mostly they offer only carb stuff. Muffins, bagels, that sort of thing.

Hey, Susan! Your homemade burritos sound yummy. I never thought of adding mayo. Thanks for that tip!

Hi Tina,
I was hungry before I read this blog and now I'm starving. I love breakfast burritos. In fact, they had them in Mexico, too, at our favorite breakfast place.

Wow, I've never even *heard* of breakfast burritos. So...in the Midwest, and in Idaho, I guess that means they are not well known. :)

Janie, I imagine burritos in Mexico are the finest. Did you try one?

And Erin, thanks for weighing in. We're going to have to get you out-of-state and show you what you're missing!

We didn't have food like this at the schools I went to. In fact, when I reached high school, I was glad to be old enuff to eat off campus.

i WISH we had food like this at our school. but the school i go to is a charter school. we don't have any athletic teams, no cheerleader, no school newspaper, either. as for food, we've got three choices:

vending machine
sack lunch
circle k

yeah. it sucks.

Chorizo--thanks, Kelly, that's another one I forgot.

Celise, I agree that open campuses are wonderful as far as lunch goes.

Draven, I had to smile when you said Circle K. I went to Arizona State University and they had those all over the place, but I can't remembering seeing them in California.
