The ABC’s of Kissing Boys: The Lipstick Giveaway!
The ABC’s of Kissing Boys is hitting shelves tomorrow! I’m so excited! And stunned, for these past two years since I dreamed up the idea have gone by in a blur...

Part of the early fun was learning about kissing. Whoever knew there were so many different kinds of kisses? Steam Kiss? Caterpillar Kiss? See You Later Kiss? (Oh, wait, scratch that last one...my hero, Tristan, made that one up...)

And part of the recent fun was trying--per some readers’ requests--to find the lipstick on the book's cover. My daughter and I set off to the mall, and were assisted by three very knowledge (and enthusiastic) cosmetic staffers who helped us decide on the closest fit.

We purchased several tubes of the lipstick, plus an array of pretty lip glosses and a bag of Hershey’s kisses to create prize bags for my launch party. And hey, this is a launch party, too, so I earmarked one of the bags for a YA Fresh friend.

The contest starts NOW and runs until 6 pm PST on Tuesday, January 13th.

Here’s what you do to enter: tell a friend that you’re entering Tina Ferraro’s contest to win the tube of the lipstick from the cover of The ABC’s of Kissing Boys. Any friend. (Family and pets are okay, too--haha.) Then write the first name who you told in the comments. Like: “I told Lindsey.” Then you’re entered!

Kelly will announce the winner in her Wednesday blog here. And keep checking back all week because on Thursday there will be a "blog debut" (intrigued???) and on Friday, we're giving away a signed copy of...what else...The ABC's of Kissing Boys!

  1. Congratulations on the release! What a great idea to go to a mall to figure it out, what did you guys decide on? Is that picture recent, looks like Spring where you are!

    (Don't enter me! Thanks!)

  2. Thanks, Alea! Yes, it's a recent picture, under a month old. (California has delayed maturity when it comes to seasons. ;)) About the lipstick, well, in real-life, the colors that we all thought were perfect on the internet were actually very rich and "lady" looking. My teen daughter felt girls her age wouldn't wear them. So we set off to find something teen girls would like which still looked like the tube, and decided on the LORAC brand, in the color of nude. The prize bags also include Sephora lip glosses to fancy it up a bit, if the wearer wants more color, but the lipstick IS pretty on its own.

  3. I am living in the wrong state.... That sounds like so much fun! I just looked LORAC up and it definitely looks like it! I hope you take a picture of everything when you announce the winner, would love to see it!

  4. Great idea, Alea! We'll see if the winner is agreeable to a picture (but we'll completely understand if she is not...)

  5. Oooh that's an even better idea, I was thinking of just the actual prize bag! But the winner with it, would be even more fun! :D

  6. I just checked out the Lorac sites and realize that I should mention it's a "sheer" lipstick in the silver tube, not the "cream" one with a black tube that I keep saying. Just to keep things straight!

I told my BF Amy. Tina, you mentioned that you're having a book release party. Can you give us an idea of what you have planned? You mentioned goodie bags. How many are you supplying? How early did you send the invites? Do you do a reading? Just curious.

  26. Celise, you asked about the booksigning party. It is on Sat., Jan. 17 at Once Upon a Time in Montrose, CA, from 2 to 4. There are pictures of the previous ones on my MySpace and website, and I know I've posted some here, too. No, I don't do a reading, just a meet and greet. It's rather like a big party, with everyone munching on snacks and mingling. One time, a guy and girl (who shall remain unnamed) met and ended up going to his prom together!!!

The game this time is to guess the name of the lipstick. My daughter and her BFF are running it, and all guesses "count" toward the drawing of the three goodie bags (make-up and candy) which will be given out at intervals.

As far as how early I sent the invites, between 1 and 2weeks beforehand, with follow-ups on Facebook and MySpace.

    Hope I covered everything!
